HOPE

You deceiving seductress

Promising it all,

All my mind could imagine

At a time I had so little

At the place I was so small.

You met the dreams of my youth

Desires surging from the heart

Need of young to go forth.

You carried me forward

To places of yours

On the river of time

Carrying a banner

With someone else’s name.

All along this journey

I kept you nurtured

The best I could

While you fed me

Crumbs of life,

Just enough to keep me going,

Diet of gladly accepted starvation

For better was to come.

Exhausted,

Looking into a misty future

I stopped, I surrendered…

Or was it you leaving me…

Waking up from this dream

I found myself surrounded

Surrounded by many tombstones

Tombstones of many colors

In the graveyard of hopes.

Together we came

To your resting place

And my door

To Me.
